Ex-transport minister charged with cheating

Former Transport Minister and MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik was yesterday charged at the Putrajaya Sessions Court with cheating involving the scandal-hit Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) project. Ling pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to a principal charge and an alternative charge under Section 418 and Section 417 of the Penal Code. Bail was set at RM1 million and case mention date has been set for Sept 3, 2010. Ling, who appeared in striped shirt and slippers, becomes the fifth person to be charged for the scandal.
